Industry challenges

Optical design, lamp mechanics, cameras and sensing modules must be designed together; a traditional division of labor lengthens development. System-level skills such as beam pattern control and glare suppression are now the threshold for intelligent lamps.

Lamps must meet international schemes such as ECE and SAE. Overseas carmakers and Tier 1s increasingly prefer drop-in modules and expect scalable manufacturing and steady delivery. Without large-part injection molding and tooling, suppliers cannot take on parts such as reservoir tanks or engine covers.

Companies and roles

Wei En supplies headlamps, fog, turn, daytime running and tail lamps, and truck reservoir tanks. Hushan supplies body components including door handles, vehicle cameras, parking sensors, window regulators and door lock assemblies.

Integration architecture

Five layers: vehicle application (automatic high beam, cornering light and similar scenarios); perception and fusion (combining image and sensor signals); lighting control (adjusting beam and brightness to context); optics and lamp system (optics, structure, thermal and reliability); and manufacturing and compliance (large-part molding plus international certification paths).

Business value

Cost: modular supply reduces integration and multi-supplier coordination; integrated design and manufacturing cut trial molds and rework. Efficiency: optics, sensing, structure and manufacturing work in parallel, and specifications can be reused. Sustainability: more shared parts, less rework and scrap. Market: repositioning from conventional parts to intelligent exterior and system components.

Markets and use cases

The US market emphasizes SAE compliance and stable volume delivery; Europe applies strict lighting requirements under ECE. Use cases include intelligent lamp modules, system-level supply of exterior parts, and larger vehicle components.
